So far, we have raised $6910 for our goal of sponsoring a well, which is $7500. Even though our Walk-for-Water is over, you can still send in donations to The Water Project (Links on the right side of this page)

Thank you for all your support!

1 in every 7 people in the world don't have access to freshwater. Many of these people live in Sub-Saharan Africa where the girls are responsible for fetching water in their household. Worldwide, girls under 15 are twice as likely to be responsible for this chore than boys are. This means that they are wasting billions of hours fetching the water when they could be in school. The trip to get water is treacherous, risky, and long. The girls take hours to get the unclean water. One-half of the world's hospital beds are filled with people suffering from water-related conditions. We want to make clean water accessible to these Sub-Saharans, who instead of getting an education waste billions of hours to get water that isn't even clean. We plan to decrease this by sponsoring a well through www.thewaterproject.org at
http://tinyurl.com/akibawater. which asks us to raise  7,500 dollars to build a new well. Akiba Academy is trying to raise this money, and we can use help from everyone!!

On April 28, 2013, we have hosted a Walk-for-Water; yet, we are still collecting contributions (the links are on the right side of the page).
